Ortiga no es una mala hierba

Nettle is not a weed, it can help your health

We have always related the nettle as a weed because of its itching as soon as we touch it, but nothing is further from the truth. Nettle is a plant that has been consumed since time immemorial for its great health benefits.

Below we show you the nutritional value that nettle can provide for every 100gr:

  • 309 kcal of CALORIES
  • 3.9 grams of FATS
  • 25.6 gr of CARBOHYDRATES
  • 30.9 g of PROTEINS

One of its characteristics is that it is rich in different compounds, such as chlorophyll, carotenes, histamine or organic acids. In addition, it contains flavonoids, which gives it antioxidant power. It is rich in minerals such as iron, sulfur or potassium and in vitamins A, B2, K1 and folic acid.

The optimal time to collect the nettle is from summer, when the plant presents yellow flowers. In fact, its flowering time is in June. It is advisable to take the whole plant, although normally only the leaves are used, and it can be used fresh or dried.
